WEDDING POEM - sample 3

A Few Words from the Daughter
by Amy Gumley

I shot a wish into the air
In hopes that Mom would find somewhere
A man of grace and goodness who
Would treat her well and be a Jew.

She searched all over as well I know
Where is he, she said, frolicking to and fro
And then one night she decided to go
To a singles dinner, though she hated them so!

To her amazement across the room
Her eyes fell on Charles and she was a'bloom
He was so happy that they started to date
He took her to places, I canšt numerate

She came to see me in Boston one time
Spoke only of Charles while we ate at mealtime
Saying he was a chemist, smart and quite sweet
Then I knew this relationship was complete!

Never speking of marriage on that fateful day
She said, "Amy, wešll see, wešre a long way away"
Yet she packed her bags early, left Delta stand-by
Saying Charles would get lonely and that was no lie!

New Yearšs was coming, Charles had a plan
To take her away for a lovely suntan
Yet I knew in my heart as I always do
That Charles and Judy would start life anew.

He asked her to marry and be his wife
She said "Of course," May they have a happy life!
Thank to Charles whošs very keen
He knows my Mom is definitely a QUEEN!

Long, long from now, wešll remember this day
My FIRST wish came true, and all is o.k.
I love you both with all my heart
And hope someday that youšll be a part
Of WISH #2, I can say no more
I wish you LOVE, GOOD HEALTH and HAPPINESS forevermore!
